Dyed, pierced, and covered in tattoos, Wren Blanchard is the exact opposite of everything Dr. Lee Hawthorne thought he wanted.

His residency is almost finished. With the perfect job, the beautiful house, and the polished girlfriend, he knows he should be happy, yet he isn't.

But once Wren lands in his ER with her sharp tongue and artist’s soul, she leaves a mark on him that just won’t fade.

Wren knows the good doctor is way out of her league. To people like him, she's a circus freak. Besides, she's not the type to get hung up on guys, especially ones with midnight blue eyes—ones who know all about antiques, crack bad jokes, and love Joss Whedon.

No. She doesn't need that.

After all, she has friends, a psychotic cat, and a promising career as one of the best tattoo artists in town. And it’s enough.

Really, it is.

Or it would be if Lee weren’t there every time she turned around.

One kiss seals their fate.

Their attraction is undeniable--but Wren’s past is full of ghosts. Is their bond strong enough for a solid future? Or will their new relationship crumble beneath the weight of all she carries?

Bad boy and good girl are reversed in this story. The good doctor (AKA Lee Hawthorne) is in his last few weeks of residency at a charity hospital. Then he will be free to choose what he wants to do. He wants OB/GYN. His father wants him to be a heart surgeon. Lee also likes antiques, doing outdoor activities, kids. He wants to be home more than his dad. His loves with his heart on his sleeve and is extremely compassionate and perceptive.

So when Wren in the ER with an ovarian torsion, Lee is intrigued. He held her hand and really tried to understand and listen to her and he sees that she is strong. When she ends up on his OR table, he really sees all the tattoos covering her. Her last request before she goes under is to not ruin them. When Lee finds her outside after discharge without a ride, he does something he shouldn’t and offers her a ride. He is so tender and compassionate with her getting her into her place and he even feeds her crazy cat and empties the kitty litter. Really, I want one of him please!! From there they just keep bumping into each other and he finds himself falling for her.

Wren is a tattoo artist. Her hair is blue. She has a pierced eyebrow. Her mom, Laurie as Wren has always called her, was a drug addict. She died when Wren was little. Wren has an awful secret and she is very strong and independent. She likes the good Doctor but she feels like she doesn’t belong in his world and why would someone like him like someone like her.

What I really liked was how perceptive Lee was, how he talked to Wren and how compassionate and caring he was with her. As they got to know each other, they found that they liked a lot of the same things. Wren still didn’t think anything could come of them. She would go hot and cold. Lee knew when she started to withdraw and he would call her on it. He knew when to back off and when to forge on. That is everything a man should be!

I really wanted them to get together and be happy. But the secret Wren has keeps her from loving and living in the moment. But Lee doesn’t give up.

Lee even went in to get a tattoo just to get her phone number in the beginning. Wren’s tattoos all have significant meaning.

The ending of this book is seriously one of the best ever! That really tied the whole story together. I loved every minute of it. Well, I am a labor and delivery nurse and some things that were not correct happened in there but I will let it go and give it 5 stars.

So, if you like tattoos with stories, Doctors, overcoming horrible obstacles, best friends, puppies, kayaking, antiques, music, doing whatever it takes in a relationship and loving with all your heart than this might be for you!
